Swiss players escape match ban
The Swiss players criticized for making a hand gestures of the Albanian eagle after scoring goals at the World Cup will not face a match ban.
The two goal scorers Xherdan Shaqiri and Granit Xhaka have been fined CHF 10,000 each and the captain Stephan Lichtensteiner CHF 5,000.
Switzerland beat Serbia 2-1 on Friday.
The players were warned not to make further controversial signs – FIFA could have banned the players for two games.
Switzerland next play Costa Rica tomorrow.
