Students use crowd funding site to pay for clitoris drawing fine
Two students who were fined CHF 100 each by Geneva municipal police for drawing a diagram of a clitoris on the pavement in the Jardin Anglais have launched a crowd-funding drive to pay the fine and their legal fees.
The two women are students of gender studies at Geneva University. They say they drew the chalk diagram as the clitoris is ignored in text books.
But the police decided it was an act of vandalism and gave them a fine.
After unsuccessfully appealing the fine, the students now have to pay more than a thousand francs in fees – as well as the original fine.
The police say it wasn’t what was drawn that’s the issue, but the simple act of making any drawing.
