Ford blow to Geneva show

National News // June 20, 2018

The Geneva Motor Show has suffered another blow. The US car giant Ford says it won’t be in Geneva next March. The announcement follows a similar move by Volvo two weeks ago.

A spokesman for Ford Switzerland says the company is not turning its back on the Geneva show, it’s just that next year they will change their communication strategy.

Neither car maker has made a decision for 2020.

But the Paris motor show has already suffered the loss of several big names, such as VW, Nissan and Jeep – as well as Ford and Volvo.

Geneva was thought to have been safe from the exodus as arguably Europe’s most important car show.

The Motor Show is a major event in Geneva, it accounts for a third of the revenue at Palexpo.
