Swiss police weapons possibly sold on Darknet
Federal prosecutors have confirmed they’re investigating how a large number of weapons which were supposed to be for the cantonal police in Schwyz ended up being sold on the Darknet.
A man responsible for buying weapons for the force was arrested.
His home was searched by investigators back in February – the haul of guns is said to be ‘gigantic’. There were too many to be transported by two cars, say the authorities.
It’s thought the man was working with a dealer in Germany to sell the guns. Investigators say there’s a link between the German dealer and the guns used at a shooting in 2016 in Munich where 10 people died, including the gunman.
The suspect is currently free on bail.
