Men on trial in Neuchatel for kidnapping
Four men are on trial in Neuchatel, accused of kidnapping the son of a wealthy man and demanding CHF 3.2m in ransom in 2015.
The prosecution says the men grabbed the young man, placed a black bag over his head and forced him at gunpoint to read a ransom note to his father over the phone.
After the father agreed to pay the money, the men released their hostage and threatened to kill the entire family if the money didn’t arrive.
But the father had already called the police who later arrested the men in canton Bern.
They face five years in jail. The trail continues.
