Colour code warnings for new hiking maps
If you like being in the mountains in the summer and winter- make sure you know your color codes. New hiking maps have been released by the Federal Office of Topography – and they mark the trails, listed between easy and hard.
But the colors used are the opposite of the ski maps.
Yellow is used for trails that are easy. Red for routes that need a bit of care – and blue for the most challenging trails.
As any skier will know, on a ski map – blue marks the easy trail.
Hikers need to make sure they’ve remembered the difference before heading out for the day.
