Government to spend CHF 5m on anti-radicalization measures
The government will spend CHF 5m on anti-radicalization measures.
The money will be used on projects on awareness and information campaigns. There will also counselling available.
The programme is designed to curb violent extremism.
There are also plans to bring in stronger laws to prevent attacks.
Although Switzerland has not had a major attack as seen in other European countries, the Federal Intelligence Service is keeping track on people who have travelled to Syria and Iraq to fight with extremists.
There are 93 cases of Swiss residents and nationals who have left the country since 2001. But the defence ministry says there’s been no change since the beginning of the year.
