Call to make forming 'emergency lane' law
The federal government is examining if it should make it law that drivers should create a corridor for emergency vehicles in the case of an accident and the subsequent traffic jams.
Although there have been highly publicized campaigns in the past – drivers still don’t seem to understand the concept.
A Socialist MP from Lucerne, Priska Seiler, wants the law to change. In the case of a jam, drivers should move to either the left or right side of the road leaving space in the middle for emergency vehicles.
The Federal Roads Office will also liaise with cantons to get the formation of emergency lanes included in the theory section of the driving test.
