104 year old Australian to travel to Switzerland to end his life
An Australian scientist plans to travel to Switzerland to end his life. Dr David Goodall is 104 years old and says he didn’t want to live that long.
Controversially, he’s not suffering from a terminal illness.
Dr Goodall used to work as a university lecturer in Western Australia. He says his quality of life is continuing to deteriorate. He told the press he regrets living such a long life.
Although there are discussions in Australia to bring in voluntary euthanasia laws – it would be restricted to people suffering a terminal illness, so he wouldn’t qualify anyway.
A GoFundMe page has already raised enough money so Dr Goodall can upgrade his economy class ticket to business.
He’s due to leave for Switzerland later this month.
