Government urged to suspend Turkey trade talks
The government is under pressure from a series of human rights groups not to sign a trade deal with Turkey until all the political prisoners are released.
The Swiss based Society of Threatened People say Turkey must allow a free media and give non-governmental organizations freedom to operate in the country.
They’re backed by several other groups, including the Green and Social Democrat parties. They also criticize Turkey’s intervention in Syria.
The current trade talks are updating an existing agreement Turkey has with the European Free Trade Area.
