Two killed by rock fall close to Swiss border
Two people have been killed in a rock fall in Italy close to the Swiss border.
The couple in their fifties from canton Ticino, were heading to a catholic shrine on Easter Sunday when rocks crashed onto the road, pushing the car down the cliff.
The road near the Italian village of Re is often used by frontalier workers coming into Switzerland and has been the site of many accidents over the past few years.
The local Italian mayor say they’ve been fighting authorities for years to make the road safer. He says these deaths should be the last.
