Woman complains about Geneva rental car charges to UK press
A British tourist has appealed to the UK tabloid press about a penalty charge she received after she returned a rental car to the wrong office at Geneva airport.
The woman told ‘The Sun’ newspaper she hired the car from Hertz on the French side at the airport – but on return, she couldn’t find the office again and so left it at the Swiss office.
Hertz then charged her EUR 450 penalty.
The two offices are only about a 10 minute drive from each other.
The woman told the paper she was worried she was going to miss her flight home.
After the paper published the story, Hertz cancelled the charge. But the revelation has prompted many others to comment on Twitter they have been charged similar amounts for the same mistake.
