Geneva public transport suffers severe delays due to snow
The snow also caused problems for Geneva Public Transport – the TPG.
Trams have been running all night to make sure the overhead cables don’t freeze and to keep the lines clear.
Many services stopped running yesterday morning, including the tram lines 14 and 18 on the right bank. A trolley bus breakdown blocked the tram lines and then the power cables froze.
It proved impossible to run bus replacement services due to the snow.
Officials are being criticized for not predicting the weather. But the TPG points out they had 200 people and 60 vehicles working to clear the routes.
