Less is more - 2017 wine harvest could be exceptional
There’ll be less Swiss wine around – but what there is will be of very high quality.
That’s the conclusion of the Federal Agriculture Office.
Last year was marked by very cold nights in April and then the summer was one of the warmest on record. Combined those conditions means grape yield is down 27%, the lowest since 1978.
The western parts of the country were the worst hit by the weather.
But the grapes that have survived are of a very high quality and hopes are high the wine from 2017 will prove to be exceptional.
