New anti-drone gun unveiled
A new invention has been unveiled in Chur in canton Graubünden. It’s an anti-drone gun and it was deployed at this year’s World Economic Forum meeting in Davos.
It’s a new system with a far longer range than some already on the market. It works by firing a plastic net which tangles the drone’s rotors, bringing it crashing to the ground.
It has a range of 50 meters.
The company says the gun is a world-first. Other systems only have a range of a few meters.
The gun was given to police in Davos during the meeting – but the police are not saying of it was used.
It is classed as a weapon, so users will need a gun licence.
The makers say they are having great interest from law enforcement agencies across the world. Especially from prisons.
