British skiers die after plunging down cliff in Chamonix
Two British skiers have died after plunging several hundred metres off a cliff in the French resort of Chamonix.
The two 25 year old men from Cambridge in England fell from the Couloir du Chapeau. A third man skiing with them saw them fall.
Police believe the men thought they would be safe as they were following fresh tracks. But the tracks were left by a mountain rescue team helping out other skiers the previous day.
The surviving man is being interviewed by police – he is said to be in a state of shock.
The men have not yet been named.
