New figures from the Federal Statistics Office show the value of unpaid work in Switzerland is worth CHF 408bn. 61% of unpaid work is by women.

Most of the work is household related – such as chores and child care. But also a significant amount time is looking after aging relatives.

Women spend about 28 hours a week on household chores, men about 10 hours a week less.
