Train passengers stranded by heavy snow
Hundreds of train passengers have spent the night in a local school in Bex in canton Vaud after their intercity train got stuck in heavy snow.
The train was running between Sion and Lausanne. But snow stopped it around halfway. Around 400 people were on the train for about five hours. Police and civil protection officers supplied the passengers with food and hot drinks.
A plan to get people to their destination by bus was also scuppered by the snow. The SBB says around 200 are spending the night in a local school.
