Swiss Federal Railways test driverless train
Swiss Federal Railways have tested a driverless train. The company hopes the move to automatic trains will be able to increase traffic on existing lines by 30%.
The train was tested on a stretch of line between Bern and Zurich.
With computers in charge, the distance needed between trains can be reduced – so more trains can run. That will means more passenger spaces and tons more freight.
Although the trains will be controlled by computers – there will always be an operator on board to make sure everything is working properly.
