Switzerland to return millions to Nigeria
Switzerland is going to return USD 321m to Nigeria following agreement between the two countries and the World Bank.
The money was seized in a Swiss bank account in 2014.
The former president, Sani Abacha, ruled Nigeria from 1993 to 1998, when he died. He’s accused of embezzling over USD 2bn during his rule.
The money was in an account in Geneva which was controlled by his son Abba.
The return of the cash will be overseen by the World Bank and will be used to help the poorest in Nigeria.
