Man who killed driver in suicide attempt jailed
The man who killed another driver in an attempt to kill himself is to go to prison for five years. His defence team tried to persuade the court that he was so mentally ill he couldn’t be held responsible for his actions.
In August 2015 the man was driving in Valais – with no particular destination in mind. He decided he wanted to commit suicide and drove straight into an oncoming car. The innocent driver was killed.
The dead man’s family were pushing for a ten year sentence. The court ordered him to jail for five, but also said he had to continue treatment on his release.
