The Mall of Switzerland is in Ebikon in canton Lucerne and will have around 100 retail outlets – and will have some brands new to the country from Turkey and Italy.
But the majority of tenants will be familiar names.
There are worries the offering may not be enough to fight the problem of ‘shopping tourism’ – when Swiss residents cross the closest border for their shopping trips to benefit from cheaper prices and the strong franc.
Lucerne public transport is anticipating great interest and will be running extra buses to the Mall.
