National News // Nov. 6, 2017

A morbidly obese 17 year old has died despite being in the care of the authorities. The young man weighed 280 kilos.

His school first raised the problem of his weight back in 2011. When he was 10 he already weighed 100 kilos.

As a final resort, he was placed in a retirement home in Winterthur where it was hoped his food could be monitored. But he was still able to order pizzas and chicken nuggets to be delivered to him.

He was found dead last week. It’s thought he tried to get up from his modified wheelchair and then collapsed. His weight meant he was not able to get up.

The exact cause of death is still to be determined.
