Switzerland slumps in gender equality index
Switzerland has suffered a surprise fall in an international gender equality survey.
The latest figures from the World Economic Forum’s Gender Gap Index shows the country has slumped 10 places to 21.
The index examines how many women are in political and business leadership roles.
In the past, Switzerland has scored quite well. But a spokeswoman for the WEF say it’s not that Switzerland is doing worse than the past, but other countries are improving and this country is standing still.
The Nordic countries keep their traditional positions at the top of the list, with Iceland at number one.
