Thousands suffer delays at Geneva airport
Returning holiday makers suffered serious disruption at Geneva airport on Saturday afternoon after a private jet landed with locked wheels.
A airport worker who saw the landing said it was like the pilot landed the aircraft with the brakes hard on.
The pilot jumped from the plane while it was still on the runway, scared the wheels may catch fire.
The undercarriage problem made it difficult to move the plane which meant the runway was closed from 3 to 4pm. The closure led to flight diversions and cancellations for the rest of the day.
Nine planes were diverted to Lyon, two to Zurich and six cancelled. The passengers were returned to Geneva by bus or train.
Also, four flights received special permission to land after midnight.
