Swiss Air Force moves to Scotland
The Swiss Air Force is to set up a training base in Scotland. 10 FA18 fighters and 100 support staff will go to an RAF base in Lossiemouth for night flying practice.
The Swiss government doesn’t allow nighttime training here as it’s too disruptive. For the past 20 years the training has been done in Norway. But that base has closed for renovation.
The planes will be in Scotland for the next couple of months. But it’s expected the new Scottish training programme will continue for some time. The army says there are no plans to return to Norway.
