SVP politician in custody on suspicion of trying to murder husband
A local Swiss People’s Party politician has been remanded in custody under suspicion of trying to murder her husband.
The 30 year old woman, identified only as Marina M allegedly set fire to their house in Zofingen in canton Aargau when her husband was home. He was seriously injured and helicoptered to hospital. Their children were unhurt.
Prosecutors say they suspect the fire was set intentionally with the aim the husband would die.
A court has ordered her to stay behind bars for at least three months while investigations are carried out.
