The rejection five months ago received plenty of negative press. It seems the communal interviewers didn’t like her answers of what is her favorite national sport – she said skiing, instead of more traditional Swiss sports such as wrestling – and the fact she shops in supermarkets and not local shops.

Although there’s been no acknowledgement the press caused a rethink- the commune was given ‘advice’ from the canton.
