Swiss government wants to track stalkers
The Swiss government wants to change the law to allow courts to order those convicted of stalking to wear trackers.
The ankle or wrist bands would be worn by those who have been given a restraining order. The tracker will allow the court to determine if the order has been broken.
Unlike trackers that maybe given to criminals – these won’t send information in real time, but the information can be downloaded later if required. This satisfies some who were worried about civil liberties.
Also the government wants the police to be able to charge alleged perpetrators of domestic violence. This will prevent partners pressuring possible victims not to press charges.
