Parliament rejects lowering voting age
Parliament has rejected a proposal to lower the voting age to 16. The initiative was put forward by a Green party MP from Geneva, Lisa Mazzone.
But it defeated by 118 votes to 64.
Only canton Glarus allows voting at 16. All other proposals across the country have been rejected. Mazzone says lowering the voting age would make young people more interested in politics.
But that argument was questioned by many MPs.
