Switzerland offers to mediate in North Korea crises
Switzerland is offering to host talks between North Korea, the United States and China on ways to de-escalate the crises after the isolated country carried out a suspected hydrogen bomb test.
While Switzerland has joined the international outcry and is also applying sanctions – the president Doris Leuthard says the country is willing to mediate talks.
She says now is time to sit around a table.
The Swiss Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the security problems on the Korean Peninsula can only be resolved within a framework of a negotiated, diplomatic process.
