Geneva jam baffles experts
A major traffic jam in the middle of Geneva has city planners scratching their heads.
On Tuesday afternoon, traffic around the main train station came to a halt – leading to delays of half an hour. But there’s no obvious reason why.
Admittedly, it’s never good in that area of the city, and residents have been complaining for years. But it was particularly bad earlier this week.
The public transport operator, the TPG, sent staff down to try to get the trams and buses moving.
The reasons could be a combination of factors. Back to school traffic, coupled with more pedestrians going to the lake side.
A meeting with the Department of Transport, the TPG and the police is planned later today to try to analyze why the blockage occurred and see if there’s a way to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
