Lost tourists saved by smartphone
Two tourists had to be rescued from the Uetliberg, sometimes described as Zurich’s local mountain. The two women, a UK national aged 18 and her 23 year old American friend left the trail and ended up stuck on a steep slope.
They were saved by their smart phones.
They called for help and the police asked them to text them their GPS co-ordinates. Two city police officers, joined by a couple of locals, soon found them and were able to lead them to safety.
