Firefighter arrested on suspicion of arson released
A volunteer firefighter who had been detained on suspicion of arson has been released without charge.
The 27 year old was accused of starting a fire in Avenches in Canton Vaud which killed 23 horses.
The man has consistently claimed he was innocent. Before his arrest, he was interviewed by local papers and described how he had heroically tried to save the animals. His conspicuous behaviour alerted the authorities.
Vaud cantonal police say he was released due to lack of evidence.
