Geneva emergency services teach throwing life rings
Geneva emergency services held an information session over the weekend to teach people how to throw a life ring and resuscitation techniques.
Some people didn’t realize the rope attached to the ring was meant to be left on the river bank and how heavy the rings are.
Although the training session had been planned for a while, it took on more relevance after a 20 year old died in the Rhone a week ago.
The slogan chosen by the authorities is ‘it’s more dangerous than its looks’.
The Rhone can be deceptive by its seemingly gentle current, but there are plenty of undercurrents and sudden change of temperatures.
