Mother dies two weeks after saving her child from lake fall
A woman has died a fortnight after she fell in a lake in the canton of Valais after saving her toddler from the water.
The mother was walking with her three-year-old along the banks of the Lake Etang Long in Crans-Montana at the beginning of July when the child fell into the water.
The woman managed to pull the toddler to safety but then fell in the lake herself.
She was rescued by local people and given first aid at the scene before being airlifted to hospital in Sion and transferred to the University Hospital in Lausanne a few days later.
The woman, who was 33, died from her injuries on Tuesday night. Her child was uninjured.
