Hiker from Geneva found dead in France
A 57-year-old hiker from Geneva has been found dead on a mountain in the French department of Ain.
The man’s body was found on Sunday morning – he’d been reported missing by his family on Friday evening.
Police, a helicopter and two dog teams from Pays de Gex were involved in the search to find the missing man. His car was found abandoned in a car park of a telecabine at the start of a hiking trail, which he’d left at lunchtime on Friday. His body was discovered by a shepherd at 1000 metres altitude in the Crozet area, at the foot of the Jura mountains. It’s believed that the man had died due to over-exertion and heat exhaustion.
