Man dies in annual Lake Zurich swim
A man who was taking part in an annual swim across Lake Zurich has died.
Other participants in the 1.5-kilometre swim yesterday afternoon alerted rescue teams when they found the man’s body floating in the water half-way through the crossing.
The man was quickly pulled out of the lake by police and rescue workers and taken to the beach at Tiefenbrunnen where they tried to resuscitate him. The man was declared dead when an emergency medical team arrived.
More than 10'000 people took part in the swimming event.
This is the 29th time that the Lake Zurich annual swim, between two beaches, has taken place.
