Commuters warned of major summer delays
Commuters using the A51 running between Kloten and Bulach are being warned to expect further disruption over the summer.
That stretch of road is the biggest on-going repair project in the country and has been going on since September last year. Works will cost CHF 186m.
10 km of four lane autoroute is being resurfaced – but so far most of the lanes have been open most of the time.
But in July and August – at least two of the lanes will be closed at any time. The road carries 41,000 vehicles a day and it needs the equivalent of 37,000 truckloads of tarmac.
Drivers should expect jams and delays over the summer.
