The chain Coop has confirmed it has a black list of clients who have a poor record of scanning.

All supermarkets will perform random checks on customers to make sure all the items in their trolley have been scanned. If an item is missed, that information is recorded and you could be checked more often.

But it could be a customer simply forgets to scan an item – and then will find themselves under scrutiny more often. Also, consumer protection groups fear an individual’s record will be available to all staff.

Migros say they don’t keep such records.
