Controversial mosque to close for good
A controversial mosque in Winterthur will close its doors for good after Ramadan.
The An’Nur mosque has long been associated with radical Islamic sympathisers. It was initially scheduled to close at the end of last year as the landlord refused to extend the lease. But that was extended after a meeting.
The mosque has been raided by police in the past and it’s then Iman was accused to preaching violence to its congregation.
Community leaders have denied the mosque is involved with radical Islam – but there have been media reports in the past of members of the mosque having travelled to Syria to fight with IS.
