UN staff workers threaten strike action over proposed pay cut
Staff members at the UN in Geneva are threatening strike action if the plan to cut their salaries by 7.5% goes ahead.
At a meeting yesterday – which turned into a demonstration – staff called on the International Civil Servants Association to recalculate the costs of living in Geneva. Staff unions say the new calculation doesn’t take into account the cost of living in one of the world’s most expensive cities.
Ian Richards from them staff council says the pay cut will mean real difficulties for some families.
