Diamond sale in Geneva breaks records
A pair of diamond earrings have sold in Geneva for more than $57m.
The two diamonds were sold as separate lots – one blue diamond called the ‘Apollo Blue’ sold for $42m and the other – the ‘Artemis Pink’ went for $15m. Both were bought by the same buyer in Asia.
The sale by Sotheby’s broke records for diamond sales. The two stones were cut into a pear shape and used to be in rings. The blue diamond weighed 14.54 carats and the pink 16 carats.
The blue diamond was especially sought after as it’s been classed as one of the most pure diamonds with high optical transparency.
