Two young brothers injured in train accident in Appenzell
Two brothers – 7 and 10 – playing with a moped in canton Appenzell Innerrhoden were injured on a level crossing when a train passed.
One boy had to be helicoptered to hospital with severe head injuries.
Police say the two boys were playing near the line – one riding a moped and the other in a trailer – when they crossed the track. Although the train driver tried to stop, the boys were hit.
The 10 year old remains in hospital with serious injuries but the 7 year old was only slightly injured.
No one on the train was hurt – police are investigating.
