Basel traffic lights most ignored in the country?
Are a set of traffic lights in Basel the most ignored in the country? For three hours police monitored traffic heading onto the A2 autoroute through a set of lights and issued 564 tickets – that’s one every thirty seconds.
The lights are designed to regulate traffic flow to the autoroute which is heading for the German border.
The crackdown put in more than CHF 141,000 in state coffers in fines.
Police decided to check compliance following complaints and a series of accidents.
Basel police say they will carry out more checks.
