Neighbouring French regions back Macron for president
French regions neighboring Switzerland joined the rest of the country in voting for Emmanuel Macron for the new president.
Voters in Haute Savoie chose Macron with a majority of over 68%, in Ain 60% and in Jura 61%.
But all regions had an abstention rate of over 20%.
But the first round showed strong support for the right wing Marine Le Pen, Ain and Jura chose the Front National candidate with Haute Savoie opting for Francois Fillon.
