Swiss fighters scrambled to follow business jet
Swiss fighters were scrambled yesterday morning as a business jet enroute to Paris from Beirut entered Swiss airspace without making radio contact.
Air traffic controllers in Italy sounded the alarm after they couldn’t raise the pilots.
FA 18’s on standby in Payerne in Fribourg took off to intercept the jet. European military forces are on a heightened state of alert due to the French elections – French and German air forces were also told of the possible threat.
The jet was escorted to the French border where it was then monitored by the French air force.
