A village in canton Aargau is offering one franc fifty for each dead mouse rodent hunters take to the village hall.

The aim is to kill as many mice as possible as they emerge in the spring. The animals can be a major problem for farmers.

To claim their prize – each hunter either has to take in a complete dead mouse, or a tail will suffice.

It’s not the first time the commune has offered a dead mouse reward – but the programme was stopped to save money.

But now an anonymous benefactor has stepped in, promising to cover the costs.
