Swiss YouTube motorist fined
The hapless Swiss motorist who found fame on YouTube for chasing his car on an autoroute after it took off by itself has been fined CHF 1,500 and given a prison sentence of 90 days, suspended for 2 years.
The video went global, watched over 600,000 times and shown on TV around the world.
The man had parked on the emergency lane when the car moved off by itself, swerved across the traffic lanes and crashed into a sign. The man chased it – oblivious to the oncoming traffic.
The judge in canton Neuchatel says the man was negligent and his actions dangerous.
