Geneva café owner hit by rare crime

// National News // By Mark // March 20, 2017

A Geneva café owner has been the victim of a rare crime – all the outdoor furniture has been stolen. Jean-Pierre Hirzel has been running cafés for thirty years – and he says he’s never known it to happen before. Geneva police confirm they’ve never had a report of such a robbery in the past.

Hirzel says the theft was discovered when his wife went to open the Café des Asters in Servette. She first thought someone had packed away the tables and chairs when they weren’t there.

But they had all been stolen.

To add to the insult, the furniture is not insured. That only covers items inside the premises.
